Sophomore
checklist for COA dual enrollment:
- Check GPA requirement 2.8 unweighted
- Fill out COA Dual enrollment application
- Complete Parent Approval Form
- Complete Orientation Moodle
- Meet with Guidance/COA Liaison to select courses
UNC School of the Arts: Review application and Portfolio requirements by November. Work closely with Arts teachers in your discipline (Visual art, music or theater) Application is due in Mid January
North Carolina School of Science and Math: Contact guidance by the end of September to indicate your interest in applying. Work closely with Guidance and AIG coordinators to review current courses and second semester options to ensure preparedness and rigor. Begin Application by mid Oct in order to complete by Mid January

- Review Associate Degree or Career Options available
- Select courses for second semester that will benefil plans for Dual Enrollment
Considering UNC School or the Arts or NC School of Science and Math?
- NCSSM: Work on Selecting courses for second semester and for Sophomore year that will increase rigor (Honors Math 3, 4 Honors Precalculus, AP Bio, AP Human Geo, etc)
- UNC School of the Arts: Work closely with Arts instructors in your chosen discipline (Music, theater or visual art) to develop a portfolio of works that will demonstrate high levels of skill, exploration and risk taking

- Take challenging classes in core academic courses.
- Work with their school counselors to create a yearly schedule to meet graduation and college admissions requirements.
- Talk to an advisor or school counselor about taking Advanced Placement®* and honors courses.
- Identify interests and potential career fields through online resources, like this interest profiler, and by attending career fairs and other events.
- Get involved with community-based and leadership-oriented activities that best reflect their interests.
- Browse the College Scorecard to see what types of schools interest them.
- As they find and review them, bookmark resources for college planning.
- Start a running list of accomplishments, awards, and recognitions to use when completing college applications and writing résumés.
