Additional Information

Currituck County High School has a room (C06) dedicated for first-time distance learning courses as well as additional labs for the same and online credit recovery courses.

The lab instructors are Brian Baxter  and Kimberly Baratta.

Most first-time online courses at CCHS are provided by the North Carolina Virtual Public School (NCVPS) and the College of the Albemarle (COA); a few are supported by Apex Learning.  These internet courses require students to be independent learners who are self motivated and have effective time management skills. Students should also be computer literate with effective written communication skills.

Students' instructors will include a syllabus and/or guidelines with additional information online (textbooks may not be provided).  Please note there may also be qualifications regarding those who are permitted to take some of the online courses. Some enrolled may have the option to earn the credit at home. The guidance office must approve your registration. All distance learning students (as well as Currituck County students) have an email account through the schools they will use while enrolled. Additional information regarding this will be given to them upon orientation.                                                                                                                                    

Students are expected to abide by the Discipline Code, Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and additional rules and restrictions stated in their course provider and Currituck County Schools handbook. Computer activity and correspondence must be school related/approved and are not private. In addition, positive character development and good citizenship are expected.

Distance learning calendars may not always follow the CCHS calendar. Regardless, students are required to follow their course provider agenda/syllabus for assignments. Distance learning classes are not exempt from state final exams which are administered at the high school at the end of the semester.
